Campaigner

How Campaigner Works

Once you have a campaign, players can create new Battlegroups to deploy. A Battlegroup is a tabletop army and represents what you'll fight battles with. You can have many Battlegroups in a campaign. Once you select the forces that are in a Battlegroup, you deploy it to the map and set its waypoints.

Campaigner calculates the movement of each Battlegroup and determines detection and speed, depending on the composition of the Battlegroup and the terrain. When two opposing factions' Battlegroups make contact with each other, a battle takes place. The battle is then fought on the table, like you would any normal game. Units that are killed are marked as "dead" in Campaigner after the battle. The point value, detection and zone of control of the Battlegroup is recalculated and the campaign continues.

Turns are continued in this manner until a specific victory condition point value is met. Victory conditions can be the destruction of enemy installations, occupying specific areas of accruing a certain amount of resources.

When combats occur, assets such as rules (from neighboring installations or Battlegroups) can be assigned to assist in the battle. Rules help extend the campaign beyond the tabletop by giving the players additional resources, troops or special actions. Players can also use nearby chits to reinforce those chits that find themselves in combat.

Once those assets are assigned, the game is played on the tabletop and the outcome of each battle is entered into Campaigner. Units that are destroyed in the tabletop game can be marked as "dead" in Campaigner, and their point value will no longer be added to the owning Battlegroup.

Campaigner Demo

You can download a copy of Campaigner right here, and check it out for yourself. This build, while feature complete might have some bugs, so keep that in mind. Campaigner comes with Campaign Builder, which allows you to build your own campaigns. Also included in the package is FlexMap Builder which is free to use.

You'll need the full version of Campaigner to play campaigns that you and other players have created. Campaign Builder is included in the demo so that you can see the full power of the Campaigner system. The full version should be available soon.
