Starting a New Campaign

Campaigns are started by using a base .cgd file. This is a Campaigner Game Data file and has all of the information you need to get your campaign rolling. Campaigner saves as C7Campaign files and won't overwrite the file you used to begin the campaign.

When you have your shiny new campaign (.cgd file) that you downloaded from the community, a friend or created yourself you can begin the actual campaign game. Run Campaigner and press the "New" button.

Pressing "New" will open a file dialog that you can use to navigate to the campaigns folder where your cgd file lives. Select the file you'd like to use for the new campaign and press the "open" button.

After opening the cgd file, the moderator screen automatically pops up. Campaigns need players and this window pops up conveniently to allow you to create some players. Make sure there is at least one player per faction.

When you start a new campaign, only the Moderator is shown in the list. Create a player by pressing the "Add" button under the list of players in the right window. This will open a new window and you can set the player's name and password as well as his faction affiliation. In non-demo campaigns, you can set some of the behavior properties of a campaign under "Campaign Options".

After creating enough players, you can close the Moderator Window and the screen returns to the main Campaigner interface. Its good practice to save the game right after making your players.

Now you can save the game and email it to the first player, or if you're playing at the game store, you can let one of the players jump in front of the computer, log in and do his turn. And that's it! Your campaign is under way!
